Sunday night at the Royal Rumble, Becky Lynch challenged Asuka for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, but unfortunately she failed to win the belt because Asuka made her tap out.
Lana tried to enter the women’s Royal Rumble match at number 28, but she was knocked off the ring apron during the US Title match on the kickoff show, so she sold an ankle injury, and tried to limp her way to the ring.
As the medical staff checked on her, Nia Jax entered at number 29 and destroyed Lana before she could enter the match.
Becky Lynch then came out and told Finlay that she’s taking Lana’s spot and the fans went wild.
The final four came down to Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Nia Jax and Becky Lynch.
Bayley was the first to go.
Nia Jax ran into Lynch and Charlotte while they were in the corner, and Becky rolled out of the ring.
Charlotte battled Nia Jax inside the ring and Charlotte put Nia on her shoulders then placed her over the top rope. Becky grabbed Nia’s feet from the outside to eliminate her and bring it down to two.
As Becky was trying to get back in the ring, Nia Jax shoved her off the steps and Becky sold a knee injury as Charlotte Flair laughed in the ring and Nia walked to the back.
Becky struggled to stand as a few referees asked if she wanted to continue. She got back in the ring and said “I can go” as she limped on one leg.
Charlotte focused on the knee and beat Becky down.
Flair tried to hit Becky with a big boot, but Becky put her over the top and then hit her in the face to knock her off the apron and win the match. The fans went crazy as they chanted “Becky, Becky, Becky.”
It’s been rumored for months that Becky Lynch is set to face Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35, so we’ll have to wait and see which champion The Man chooses to face on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
