Bayley made her triumphant return to WWE programming last year at the SummerSlam premium live event and she brought Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky with her. It was later revealed that collectively the group would be called Damage CTRL, but Bayley explained to Ariel Helwani of BT Sport that she originally wanted to call the group The Now.
“To me, I didn’t care about the championships I won in the past, I don’t care about what happens next, these girls right here and what we’re about to do, the present is all that matters. So, ‘The Now’ was my first idea.”
According to Bayley there were legal reasons that prevented WWE from using the name The Now. She went on to explain the meaning behind the Damage CTRl name when she added, “To me, Damage CTRL is just kind of showing the world how much more there is to offer than what you just see on TV every week.”
Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky of Damage CTRL will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against Becky Lynch & Lita this week on Monday Night Raw. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
