After 4 years away from WWE, Batista finally made his return last week when he took part in the Evolution reunion during SmackDown 1000.
It had been a while since the former WWE Champion cut a promo in a WWE ring, and he kicked things off by telling the fans he was nervous.
During an interview with WWE, Batista revealed that prior to the segment he told Vince McMahon how nervous he was, and Vince responded by telling him to be honest with the crowd.
“It was alright, it probably could have gone a little better, but I think considering how nervous I was,” Batista said via Wrestling Inc. “I told Vince how nervous I was, he said, ‘When you go out there, just tell them, be honest and speak from the heart.’ First thing I said, ‘I’m nervous’ because I was. I didn’t want to pull any punches, I was nervous, man.”
During SmackDown 1000, Batista also teased a potential match with Triple H, and he noted that he missed the immediate feedback from the fans.
“I miss it here, I miss the energy, the immediate feedback. We’ll see where it goes, but it was quite an honor to be a part of this, especially since it was in my hometown.”
