It’s been a long time since WWE fans have seen Batista in the ring, but he hasn’t been shy about letting the world know that he’s interested in returning.
Batista recently confirmed that WWE contacted him about potentially teaming up with Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34, and he also confirmed that he wanted to tease a singles match with Triple H during the tag team bout. But then he stopped getting calls about it from WWE. It really is a shame because Batista is very loyal to Vince McMahon and could do some great business if he came back.
But unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out for Batista and WWE at this point. He’s been busy with his work as Drax The Destroyer and while it is very fun to be a Guardian Of The Galaxy he misses the roar of the crowd.
Dave Meltzer opened up about Batista on Wrestling Observer Radio where he gave some hope that maybe they could work something out for Batista at WrestleMania 35.
“You know Batista wants to work with Triple H at next year’s WrestleMania as a retirement match. Will they do it? They may. It’s not a bad idea as far as a match goes. Batista retirement, Hall of Fame and all that. They asked him to go into the Hall of Fame this year but he didn’t want to because he still wants a final run.”
Turning down a Hall Of Fame spot because he wants another run with WWE is a pretty good sign Batista could be game to mix it up with the WWE Universe once again.
Batista actually started late in the pro wrestling business but shot straight to the top of the roster when coming in from OVW and getting a bad Deacon Batista gimmick out of the way. Therefore he might only have time for one more good run but that’s apparently what he wants. So maybe there’s a chance they could work something out for the Show Of Shows next time around.
