Money In The Bank is a special gimmick that can translate into an unforgettable moment for a Superstar. But sometimes the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry, even if they’re a Lone Wolf.
Baron Corbin was Mr. Money In The Bank for a short time and he traveled around with his blue briefcase as long as he could before trying to cash it in. But thanks to John Cena, Corbin was unable to cash in successfully because he distracted Corbin allowing Jinder Mahal to hit a Khallas and waste Corbin’s cash in.
Corbin losing the MITB contract on the SmackDown Live before SummerSlam answered a lot of questions concerning whether or not he was going to cash in after the big WWE Championship match between Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura at SummerSlam. But fans of Corbin would have certainly liked for it to go differently for the Kansas City native.
Baron Corbin recently spoke to All Things Wrestling Radio where he went into some detail surrounding the loss of his Money In The Bank briefcase just days before he was set to face John Cena at SummerSlam.
“It was kinda like an hour before [SmackDown Live]. We discussed, and then they made a decision that was gonna be the night. It didn’t work out, but, yeah it was definitely about an hour before. I mean, it’s the fun part of this business. You never know what your day is gonna hold. Some things could be very, very last minute. It could be at that very last second. So, it’s pretty wild, and it keeps you on your toes. That’s for sure.”
So you never know what’s going to happen in WWE, especially if you’re a Superstar. For all Baron knew before SmackDown Live that week he would be walking into the Biggest Party Of The Summer with his briefcase in tow. Instead, he got a bunch of “where’s your briefcase?” chants so that’s something too.
