This week on SmackDown Live, AJ Styles defended his WWE Championship against James Ellsworth, and AJ Styles mades short work of James Ellsworth in the opening match.

After the match AJ Styles cut a promo, and he was interrupted by the number 1 contender Dolph Ziggler, who was then interrupted by Baron Corbin. Baron attacked Dolph, and Daniel Bryan later determined that Dolph Ziggler would face Baron Corbin in the main event with Dolph’s WWE Title shot on the line.
The end of the main event came when Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler battled to the outside, and Corbin threw Dolph Ziggler into AJ Styles who was sitting at the announce table. Both Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin were counted out, and after the referee called for the bell, AJ Styles got his revenge.
AJ Styles wasted no time as he assaulted both Dolph Ziggler and Corbin with a chair shortly after the bell rang. SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan then made his way to the entrance area, and he announced that next week Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler will both challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship in a triple threat match.
Next week’s episode of WWE SmackDown Live will also feature the return of John Cena.
