Brock Lesnar is the current WWE Universal Champion, and he recently defeated WWE Champion AJ Styles in a non-title match at Survivor Series. With Survivor Series out of the way, all eyes are looking ahead to the Royal Rumble, and everyone’s wondering what the pay-per-view holds for Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar’s Royal Rumble opponent has been a hot topic as of late as it was recently reported that WWE officials were considering having Finn Balor challenge The Beast for the Universal Championship, but Vince McMahon reportedly nixed that idea because he doesn’t think Balor is over enough to face Brock.
With the Balor vs. Lesnar match being nixed, it appears that plans for the Universal Champion are still up in the air.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar will be appearing at the Royal Rumble, but he may not end up defending his title at the event. Various suggestions have been made for ideas regarding Brock’s appearance both with him defending, and not defending the title, but nothing is set in stone at this point.
With Kane destroying Finn Balor with a chair recently, only for Braun Strowman to make the save, it certainly doesn’t seem that he’s being set up as a contender for the title.
Brock is set to return to Raw on the 12/18 show, so his Royal Rumble plans will hopefully become more clear in a few weeks.
