A few weeks ago CM Punk’s AEW contract was terminated, and now Tony Khan issued a statement claiming that he feared for his life during a backstage altercation involving CM Punk.
Haus of Wrestling is reporting that while asking around about the situation it was confirmed that CM Punk does not have any pending litigation against Tony Khan following his termination from AEW.
People have asked whether or not CM Punk was considering taking action after Tony Khan said he felt his life was in danger during the backstage incident, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. The belief is that CM Punk is trying to avoid further litigation so he can move on with his life. It’s also being said that Punk is breathing a sigh of relief now that he’s away from the day to day drama in AEW.
At this point it has not been confirmed whether or not there is any pending legal action from AEW or Tony Khan towards CM Punk, but things seem to have calmed down.
It was also noted that while no one in WWE with knowledge of the situation has ruled out a possible return for CM Punk, the buzz around Punk being a free agent isn’t there like it was with Cody Rhodes in early 2022. Another source added that timing is everything in professional wrestling, and with WWE’s product being hot the company isn’t in need of a big signing.
Multiple sources did note that they could see CM Punk and WWE working together at some point if good business could be done. It has not been confirmed if CM Punk has a non-compete clause following his termination from AEW.
