WWE released a number of talents last week as it was reported that the company cut Jinder Mahal, Xia Li, Xyon Quinn, Sanga, Veer and Von Wagner. On Tuesday, Cameron Grimes posted a video announcing that he had also been released from WWE.
Fightful Select reports that Cameron Grimes’ release was unexpected among many people for various reasons. It was noted that Cameron’s skill set and track record didn’t match other names who were released, and that he managed to get over in NXT while constantly improving in the ring throughout his five years with WWE.
Another reason why the reason came as a surprise was that Cameron Grimes was at SmackDown last week and was said to have been a regular at TV even when the company wasn’t using him.
The expectation is that Cameron Grimes will be heavily booked on the independent scene as a number of top indie promotions are reportedly interested in booking him.
