It’s been a huge week for WWE as it was announced that Monday Night Raw will be moving to Netflix in January of 2025. The company reportedly signed a 10 year deal worth $5 billion dollars to bring the red brand to the streaming service.
Nick Khan recently talked about how the deal came together during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show and he noted that there were multiple suitors for the rights to Raw, but ultimately freedom was a contributing factor in WWE’s decision to go with Netflix.
“It was a robust marketplace, we had a lot of meetings, there was a lot of interest, a high number of offers. The fact that they come to us and say ‘yeah, we strike a deal and you guys do all the rest’ Is something that they like, and certainly something in our wheelhouse.”
While talking about the backstage reaction to the deal in WWE, Nick Khan said it’s, “Overwhelmingly positive. If you look at the ‘Streaming Wars,’ Netflix has sat at the top of that perch and continued to sit at the top of that perch.”
