The Rock got the wrestling world talking on Thursday night when he announced that he would be appearing on SmackDown. Fans were surprised by the announcement and it sounds like people within WWE also had a similar reaction.
Fightful Select reports that creative was told about The Rock’s return just a few days ahead of SmackDown, and it’s being said that it was a shock to many in the company.
As of the evening before SmackDown, Cody Rhodes had already been pulled from the main event. People who spoke on the situation noted that everything came together very late, and even they weren’t told of the next direction.
Cristian Scovell was listed as the writer on the segment with Michael Hayes listed as the producer. It was noted that even though a writer was listed for the segment The Rock does not have to follow scripts.
During his appearance on SmackDown, The Rock told Cody Rhodes that he wants The American Nightmare to be “his champion.” The Final Boss confirmed that he will be appearing at Elimination Chamber and he’s expecting Cody Rhodes to give him an answer at the event.
