WWE had been promoting John Cena’s return ahead of WWE Raw this week and the former WWE Champion received a loud ovation from the Boston fans. Cena was confronted by Austin Theory and it was confirmed that John Cena will challenge Theory for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 39 next month.
Fightful Select is reporting those who spoke on the subject within WWE noted that they were very happy with how John Cena’s Raw return unfolded with Cena adding some familiar eyes to the show.
According to ShowBuzzDaily, this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw averaged 1.827 million viewers with a 0.52 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Viewership was up from last week’s show which averaged 1.768 million viewers. It was also recently reported by Fightful that there was no producer assigned to the John Cena/Austin Theory segment on Raw which could indicate that the segment was produced by John Cena himself.
WrestleMania 39 will air live from SoFi Stadium on April 1 and April 2. It’s not clear yet on which night John Cena will face Austin Theory for the United States Championship. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
