Weeks ago WWE started teasing fans by playing the song “White Rabbit” at live events and TV tapings and everyone started trying to piece together the mystery behind the song. The clues seemed to hint at a Bray Wyatt return and on Saturday night Wyatt did indeed return to WWE in a big way at the Extreme Rules premium live event.
Fightful Select reports that Bray Wyatt’s return was very well received according to WWE sources. The company was very happy with the buzz generated from the QR codes and cryptic videos heading into Extreme Rules.
Members of the new WWE regime reportedly felt optimistic about Bray Wyatt’s return shortly after Vince McMahon announced his retirement, and one source was completely convinced he was back with the company about a month before he actually returned.
Several people who are usually in the know were said to have been kept out of the loop regarding plans for the White Rabbit with standard WWE creative being largely hands off. It’s worth noting that Bray Wyatt has a good relationship with Brian Fee who was recently hired as Director of Longterm Creative for WWE. Fee previously pitched a Fiend movie to Nick Khan prior to Bray Wyatt’s release last year.
