The WWE main roster got a little bit smaller on Sunday as the company announced that Emma, Darren Young and Summer Rae had all been released from their contracts. After the news was announced, Emma’s fans and peers took to social media to show love and support for the former WWE Superstar, but one NXT talent got himself in some hot water after making an ill timed joked about the release.

Emma faced Asuka twice last week, and after WWE went public with the release, NXT star Lio Rush tweeted the following: “I guess there are things that happen when you’re not truly ready for Asuka.” Several WWE Superstars called Rush out on social media for the insensitive tweet, and he later deleted it then issued an apology.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that after Lio Rush posted the tweet there was backstage talk that he might be let go in the hours after he posted it. Had Lio Rush not issued an apology it’s possible that he may have been released due to the ill timed joke.
Even though Rush is still with the company as of this writing, it’s being said that he’s going to have to work to get the heat off of him.
