WWE recently held tapings for the first ever Mae Young Classic at Full Sail University, and the hype behind the tournament is at an all time high. Several WWE Hall of Famers were in the house for the tapings, and UFC star Ronda Rousey even made an appearance.
The tournament features some of the most talented female wrestlers from all over the world, but its rumored that not all of the participants got the seal of approval from WWE officials.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that there are people in WWE who were unhappy with the tournament. It was noted that these are the people in the company that believe that WWE women all have to be hot. The report claims that people who expressed those opinions believe many of the women were not good looking enough to wrestle for WWE.
Kenny King had a successful run in TNA, as he’s a former two time X-Division Champion, but during a recent appearance on X-Pac’s 12360 show, King noted that he enjoys working for Ring of Honor more because he gets paid on time.
“I get my damn check on time bro. Getting paid on time is a huge advantage and difference. That and also the culture at ROH. It’s always been we’re just going to blow this s–t up. And it doesn’t matter who’s there. Whether it’s AJ (Styles), or the Briscoes (Briscoe Brothers), or Roddy (Roderick Strong) or everybody. It’s a team mentality. And everybody wants to put their best effort on each card to make each show the best. I’m not saying it wasn’t like that at Impact but it’s very much like that at ROH.”
