The Miz recently made his triumphant return to Monday Night Raw, and he made it clear right away that he wanted to challenge Roman Reigns for the Intercontinental Championship. Miz finally got his wish Monday night when he went one on one with Roman during the big Raw anniversary show, and in the end it was The Miz who walked out with the gold.
Many fans expected Roman to drop the belt to Miz as WrestleMania season is quickly approaching, and it looks like WWE officials are putting all of the big pieces into place.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Roman dropping the title was not an indication of his status with WWE. The feeling backstage is that the recent steroid allegation story is a “non-story” and Roman is still set to be featured prominently on the Road to WrestleMania.
As of right now plans still call for Roman to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title in New Orleans at WrestleMania 34.
In regards to The Miz, it’s being reported that the current Intercontinental Champion is in line for a major push during WrestleMania season.
Miz is reportedly in a “major WrestleMania match” so WWE wants him to look like a top guy.
