Samoa Joe made his big main roster debut Monday night on Raw, and he absolutely destroyed Seth Rollins. Due to the way the angle went down it seems that Samoa Joe was handpicked by Triple H to do his dirty work, and it also looks like Joe will be working on the Raw brand.
It was recently reported that WWE officials were considering pairing Samoa Joe up with John Cena at WrestleMania 33, but if Samoa Joe is on Raw, and John Cena is on SmackDown, that seems unlikely to happen. So, where does that leave John Cena in regards to his opponent at the show of shows?
Dave Meltzer noted on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that he doesn’t know who Cena will be wrestling at this point, but he was told that the match isn’t something that anyone will be “celebrating.” He added that it was made out to him that Cena’s match is not “necessarily good news,” but he won’t be facing Randy Orton.
John Cena is the current WWE Champion, but it’s already been confirmed that Cena will be defending the WWE Title in the Elimination Chamber. So far AJ Styles is the only other competitor confirmed for the match, but it’s expected that Bray Wyatt will win the title and move on to WrestleMania 33 where he will defend against Randy Orton.
It’s also been rumored for weeks now that AJ Styles may face off against Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33, and that match is something WWE officials are still considering.
