Last week WWE’s European tour was in full swing, but after the SmackDown Live tapings on Tuesday, two of the blue brand’s top stars were pulled from the tour. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were told to go home after SmackDown Live, and it was later reported that the duo made an error during the taping.
Zayn and Owens were supposed to get beat up after Sami Zayn’s match with Kofi Kingston, but instead they just left the ring.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are two different versions of the story going around. One version claims that there was some miscommunication, and Owens and Zayn were doing what they thought they were supposed to do. The other version of the story claims they went into business for themselves during the taping and they were yelled at backstage before they were sent home.
It’s also being reported that there are people who have “vehemently denied” that the story about the miscommunication is true, and claim that the general reaction among talent is that they went into business for themselves and they were viewed as the bad guys in the situation after being sent home.
While Owens was home he apparently took his son to Epcot and saw a tweet from a fan saying that he was going to be getting married at Epcot on the same day he and his son were visiting.
Owens decided to surprise the fan by dropping by the wedding, and he was invited into the dessert party. Orton then threw some shade at Owens on Twitter saying, “Of course he stopped by…… it was a DESSERT PARTY.”
Kevin Owens then responded by ripping on Orton for vaping, and Orton told him he quit while taking a shot at him for not being on the tour.
Owens followed up from there by saying:
It was noted that even though they’re both opposite characters on the same brand, there could have been some legitimacy to the Owens and Orton’s Twitter exchange.
