Sunday night Randy Orton faced off against Lesnar, and Lesnar won the match via TKO, after he busted Orton open. After the match Orton needed 10 staples in his head to close the wound.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the end of the match did go down as planned for the most part. The idea was to create a finish that made people wonder where reality ended, and made it look like Brock Lesnar went off script.
Apparently Randy Orton was preparing for a typical main event. But when he arrived at the arena he was told what the plan was for the match, and that the plan wasn’t for both stars to go back and forth, but to make Lesnar look even stronger. Original plans called for the match to be more of a one sided destruction in Lesnar’s favor.
Randy Orton was also reportedly told that Brock Lesnar knew how to graze him with his elbow to make him bleed without hurting him. Brock Lesnar actually ended up elbowing Orton and hitting him with stiff punches which caused him to get 10 staples in his head.
Orton did was he was supposed to do which was stay down and looked like he was knocked out. The referees and trainers apparently looked confused because they actually were. The confusion led to the referee stoppage due to Orton’s condition and all of the blood in the ring.
