Kurt Angle made his return to the ring on Sunday night all decked out in Shield gear when he teamed up with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. Angle’s in ring return was only announced a few short days before the pay-per-view, and it was announced because Roman Reigns had to be pulled from the event.
PWInsider reports that Angle’s in ring return was Vince McMahon’s idea, and the idea was proposed on Thursday.
The Raw General Manager has telling the world for months that he wanted to wrestle, but he’s been patient, and he said a few weeks ago that he hadn’t even taken the physical to be cleared to wrestle. While Kurt Angle had been previously checked out when he returned to the company, he didn’t officially take the physical until Friday. The announcement seemed like a last minute thing because it was a “down to the wire” situation, and as soon as Angle was cleared WWE made the announcement a few minutes later.
Angle has a long list of wrestlers on the WWE roster that he would like to face, and now that he’s been cleared to compete there’s little doubt that fans will want to see him in the ring again.
As of right now Kurt Angle’s return to the ring at TLC is meant to be a one time attraction, but the door is said to be wide open for more matches in the future.
