The Undertaker returned on Monday Night Raw earlier this week, and he officially announced that he will be entering the Royal Rumble on January 29th, and he also told fans that he’s headed for the main event of WrestleMania 33. It’s long been rumored that The Undertaker would be facing John Cena at WrestleMania this year, but it was recently reported that the match is no longer planned for the event.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that The Undertaker will reportedly be facing a Raw star at WrestleMania 33, but at this point who that star will be is unknown. During Undertaker’s appearance on Raw the cameras cut to the backstage area to show Braun Strowman watching Taker’s promo in the ring, but despite the tease Braun Strowman is not planned to be The Undertaker’s opponent at WrestleMania. The tease was likely done to set up a confrontation between the two big men in the Royal Rumble match.
Heading into the Royal Rumble there was a lot of speculation that John Cena would defeat AJ Styles to win the WWE Championship, and The Undertaker would win the Royal Rumble match to set up a WrestleMania bout between the two stars.
PWInsider reports that there was talk of The Undertaker entering WrestleMania with the WWE Title, but there’s no word on how exactly WWE planned to make that happen. Although Taker’s WrestleMania opponent remains unknown, as of right now he’s not scheduled to be in a title match at WrestleMania 33.
