CM Punk shocked the world on Tuesday night when he made a surprise appearance on WWE Backstage, and it’s been confirmed that while Punk won’t be featured on the show every week, he will be making regular appearances moving forward.
It’s important to note that Punk’s deal for the show is through FOX, not WWE, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there were definitely people in WWE who were negative when it came to the idea of Punk joining the show because of how he left.
The nature of the business is that just about everyone who leaves on bad terms eventually returns, but there were some that expected him to be the exception to the rule with the idea that he would be adamant about never returning.
It was also noted that FOX at one point pushed for Punk to host the show, and those in WWE who were aware of it were negative on the idea because of the bad blood from the past.
