Fans saw Goldberg wrestle a few matches earlier this year, as he defeated The Fiend to win the Universal Championship on the road to WrestleMania, and he later dropped the belt to Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 36 in April.
Goldberg hasn’t wrestled since, but he did confirm that he currently has more matches left on his contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.
Last week during the season premiere of SmackDown Goldberg made an appearance on the LED board in ThunderDome, and he watched the Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman match.
According to Inside The Ropes, Goldberg’s appearance on SmackDown was meant to give the show a ratings boost, and it was also meant to put the wheels in motion for Royal Rumble/WrestleMania season.
There’s speculation that Goldberg will somehow factor into future plans for either Roman Reigns or Braun Strowman.
It was also noted that if there was a WWE show in Saudi Arabia next month that the company almost certainly would have used Goldberg for the event.
When it comes to Vince McMahon’s opinion on Goldberg it’s being said that, “Vince McMahon couldn’t care less what anyone thinks about him using Goldberg,” as he feels there’s value in the name.
