This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw aired live from Quebec City and WWE had to make some changes to the show. Originally Iyo Sky was set to challenge Naomi for the WWE Women’s World Championship, but Naomi was pulled from Raw after WWE announced that Naomi was not cleared to compete.
Due to Naomi being pulled from the show Iyo Sky ended up facing off against Roxanne Perez in a singles match. At one point Raquel Rodriguez was distracting the referee, so Asuka and Kairi Sane made their way out to help Iyo Sky. Unfortunately it seems that Asuka and Kairi Sane did more harm than good as Iyo got distracted after she almost collided with them as they were standing on the apron, and Roxanne Perez took advantage by rolling Iyo up to win the match.
After the match Iyo Sky confronted Kairi Sane and Asuka backstage and things got heated. As the argument escalated Asuka displayed some heel tendencies when she shoved Iyo then walked away.
PWInsider is reporting that original plans for Asuka’s heel turn called for it to be a slow burn that would take place over several weeks. However, due to the changes that were made to Raw after Naomi was pulled WWE decided to speed up plans for the heel turn.
