For many years fans could expect WWE Monday Night Raw to go beyond 11 PM, but the overruns officially were put to an end until earlier this week.
Monday’s episode of Raw featured the Bobby Lashley/Lana wedding angle in the main event slot, and the show went over 3 hours.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that fans shouldn’t get used to a longer show, as the overrun was done as a one time thing. It’s always possible that WWE could negotiate another overrun with USA Network in the future, but this week it was done specifically for the wedding angle.
It’s being said that the 10 minute overrun was up in viewers and did not lose the audience.
Ratings for the wedding angle were said to be way up, and credit for the creative was given to Paul Heyman, but it’s likely that Vince McMahon had input.
