Sasha Banks and Naomi were originally set to compete in a six pack challenge on Monday Night Raw this week but the match was changed after the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions placed their belts on the desk of John Laurinaitis and walked out.
Fightful Select reports that the walkout is not a work or part of a WWE storyline. It’s also being reported that those backstage who spoke to Fightful about the walkout do not expect Sasha Banks and Naomi to be released. However, that’s not a certainty.
Numerous sources also reportedly claimed that Naomi was originally set to win the six pack challenge without pinning Sasha Banks. It’s also being said that Naomi and Banks weren’t supposed to attack each other during the match. The plan was for Naomi to win the six pack challenge then go on to challenge Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell and lose.
There was said to be a creative issue regarding the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles being de-emphasized in the weeks to come as Banks and Naomi have been vocal about WWE developing more stories for the division.
Vince McMahon decided to reference the walkout on air and was feeding lines all night. There’s said to be no backstage heat on anyone who had to deliver the lines. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
