Friday’s episode of SmackDown was the last show of 2022 for WWE and it featured some big returns. John Cena returned to the ring and he teamed with Kevin Owens to defeat Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn, and Charlotte Flair also made her first appearance on WWE programming in months.
Not only did Charlotte return, but she also challenged Ronda Rousey to an impromptu title match and The Queen managed to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship which shocked Rousey and the fans as well.
Fightful Select reports that Charlotte Flair’s return was not telegraphed internally, and word of her return started going around only minutes after the show went on the air. The title change was also kept very quiet.
One way or another it will be interesting to see where things go from here for Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey as WrestleMania season is right around the corner. Stay tuned for updates.
