WrestleMania 39 is only a few weeks away and now that card is finally starting to come together. Fightful Select reports that several plans for WrestleMania that were discussed in early November to early December have been changed.
Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair was considered for WrestleMania before WWE made creative adjustments to plans for Ronda Rousey. As of November plans called for Charlotte Flair to return to the Raw brand before Ronda Rousey ended up taking January off which led to Charlotte winning the SmackDown Women’s Title. It’s also being reported that Fightful hasn’t seen anything to indicate that Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair was suggested.
It’s also been rumored that Seth Rollins could have faced Cody Rhodes or Drew McIntyre in a title match and rundowns around November had two potential title matches. One title match was set for night one with another set for night two. Cody Rhodes was said to have been an option for both matches with “TBA/Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns” set as the Universal Title match and Seth Rollins vs. Cody Rhodes or Drew McIntyre set as a WWE Championship match.
Plans always called for Cody Rhodes to win the Royal Rumble, and things took off with the Sheamus/Drew McIntyre tag team then Seth Rollins moved on to Logan Paul. Ultimately the extra title match was nixed completely.
WrestleMania 39 will air live from SoFi Stadium on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2. Stay tuned for updates.
