A good gimmick can go a long way and Finn Balor’s Demon gimmick always gets the fans talking. It’s been a while since fans have seen the Demon on WWE programming, but it sounds like the company discussed the idea of bringing the Demon back at one point.
Fightful Select reports that WWE had plans to bring back Finn Balor’s Demon gimmick for a Finn Balor vs. Edge Hell in a Cell match at the Royal Rumble. However, the match didn’t happen because of Edge’s filming schedule. Finn Balor has used the Demon gimmick a total of seven times on the main roster and he last used at the Extreme Rules premium live event in 2021 when he challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.
Some people felt that the Demon persona didn’t fit the current iteration of The Judgment Day and were against bringing it back for Hell in a Cell. Other felt that the Demon gimmick would have given the match an extra buzz that it needed.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Edge challenged Austin Theory for the United States Championship in the main event and Finn Balor interfered which allowed Theory to retain. At this point it seems that the rivalry between Edge and Finn Balor is far from over. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
