Roman Reigns recently celebrated two years as Universal Champion, and it certainly seems that The Tribal Chief has been on a roll. At WrestleMania earlier this year he defeated Brock Lesnar to become Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and this weekend he will defend his titles against Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle.
WrestleMania 39 is still months away, but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the current plan is for Roman to face The Rock on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
It was noted that Reigns vs. Rock doesn’t need to be a title match, but most people figured that WWE has been keeping the title on Reigns because they didn’t want him to get beat before the match.
It was recently reported that WWE is discussing the idea of Roman dropping the titles. One scenario could see McIntyre win the belts and then lost them before Mania, but at this point it’s not clear what direction WWE will go.
WWE Clash at the Castle will air live on Saturday, September 3. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
