The Royal Rumble aired live from Saudi Arabia over the weekend and the show kicked off the road to WrestleMania in a big way. The men’s Royal Rumble match featured some big names, some surprise appearances, and the Royal Rumble debut of Oba Femi.

Oba Femi entered the match at number 1 and he managed to last over 39 minutes before he was eliminated by Brock Lesnar. The Beast Incarnate’s encounter with Oba Femi led to a lot of speculation regarding a possible WrestleMania match, but Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Femi vs. Lesnar is not locked in for the WrestleMania card.

I had asked about a bunch of matches for Mania and most of them were correct. As it turned out, including Roman Reigns and Punk, although that was very clear, obviously. But the one that I was told that’s not, I mean it could happen, I’m not saying it’s not happening, I’m just saying that I was told that this one’s, this one’s not a hundred percent, and that was the Lesnar and Oba Femi match.”

As of this writing Oba Femi has not been assigned a main roster brand, and Brock Lesnar’s next WWE appearance hasn’t been announced. One way or another it will be interesting to see how things play out for Femi and Lesnar as we get closer to WrestleMania.

Following his big Royal Rumble victory Roman Reigns confirmed on Raw this week that he will be challenging CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42. So far Punk vs. Reigns is the only match that has been officially announced for the card.
