UPDATE: Fightful Select is now reporting that Ivar’s injury is not a work. According to the report the severity of the injury is unknown, but it’s being said that Ivar has long wrestled as if he’s “on borrowed time” since undergoing double fusion surgery.
The last few weeks have been rough for some of WWE’s finest as the company has announced that several names were pulled from in-ring competition due to injury.
This week’s episode of NXT featured a backstage segment showing that Gallus had attacked Ivar, Josh Briggs and Wes Lee. WWE later announced that following the attack Ivar would be out of action indefinitely.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE is simply giving Ivar some time off because he’s been working so hard recently. It’s being said that there’s nothing serious going on with Ivar and the injury announcement is just an angle.
With Ivar off TV for now WWE has also announced that Tyler Bate will take his place in the WWE Speed No. 1 Contender’s Tournament when he faces off against Apollo Crews. There’s currently no word on when Ivar could be back in action.
