It was an action packed weekend for wrestling fans as WrestleMania 37 took place over the course of two nights from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL.
During Night 2 Sheamus challenged Riddle for the United States Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All, and some fans were surprised to see Sheamus pick up the victory and walk away with the belt.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Riddle was never supposed to be United States Champion. Originally Keith Lee was supposed to win the title, but Lee was pulled from the triple threat match at Elimination Chamber.
WWE had to get US Title off of Bobby Lashley, and they couldn’t give it to John Morrison because he was involved in the Bad Bunny storyline, which is why Riddle ended up winning the belt.
One way or another the action will continue tonight on Monday Night Raw, and it will be interesting to see where the US Title picture goes from here.
