For several months Rusev was involved in one of the top feuds on Monday Night Raw, but he hasn’t been featured as prominently on the show as of late.
Originally Rusev was being advertised for the Tuwaiq Mountain Trophy Gauntlet Match at Super ShowDown, but on Monday Rey Mysterio was announced as Rusev’s replacement in the match.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the story within the company is that Rusev is injured, but it was also noted that while that is the story it’s being said that Rusev essentially backed out of the show.
It’s also being said that Rusev backing out was a last minute thing.
Rusev was a part of the last event in Saudi Arabia which saw many WWE talents encounter travel issues while trying to return home.
Super ShowDown is set to air live on the WWE Network on Thursday, February 27.
Stay tuned for more updates on Rusev’s status as they become available.
