2020 was a big year for Murphy, as he found himself in one of the biggest storylines working with top names such as Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio, but fans haven’t seen much of Murphy lately.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Steve Cutler’s release has unfortunately had a negative impact on Murphy’s status.
Cutler was aligned with King Corbin and Wesley Blake, and originally the plan was for Murphy, Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio to feud with Corbin’s stable.
With plans changing due to Cutler’s release it appears that WWE creative doesn’t have anything for Murphy at the moment.
It was also noted that Aalyah Mysterio is the only member of the Mysterio family who didn’t test positive for COVID-19, but WWE simply dropped her storyline with Murphy.
Murphy last wrestled on the December 4th episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
