It was recently announced that Mauro Ranallo has parted ways with WWE, and the former NXT commentator confirmed his departure when he posted the following statement:
“I appreciate the opportunity I had to realize my childhood dream of working in sports entertainment, and I wish WWE well in the future. Now I want to direct my focus and devote my time to my other projects and to my mental health charitable activities and the well-being of my mother and myself.”
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio it was noted that Ranallo went back to British Columbia, where his mother is hospitalized, and after missing a few events he came to the decision that he doesn’t want to do WWE anymore.
Mauro Ranallo is still expected to continue working with Bellator and Showtime Boxing.
It was also noted that Mauro feels like he should focus on being a mental health advocate, and he wanted to move away from the pressure of working NXT on a weekly basis. It’s being said that Mauro just decided it was time to go.
Wade Barrett appeared on last week’s episode of NXT to do commentary work, and it’s been reported that he’s negotiating a new contract with WWE.
