For months now it’s been rumored that WWE would be heading back to Saudi Arabia in June, and yesterday the rumors were confirmed when the company announced that the next Saudi event is scheduled for June 7th.
It was also announced that Goldberg, Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker will be appearing at the event.
The Goldberg announcement was a surprising one, as the former Universal Champion has been quiet since his WWE Hall of Fame induction last year.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE approached Goldberg about appearing on the show because he’s the one guy left who could go to AEW and potentially bring back lapsed fans.
In the 90s Vince McMahon left the door open for guys like Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper and Randy Savage to go to WCW, and the company is trying to avoid a similar situation.
Goldberg is said to be getting “giant money” for his deal, and in the past some performers have earned seven figures for the Saudi shows.
