Ronda Rousey returned to WWE earlier this year and after she won the women’s Royal Rumble match she declared that she would be challenging Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
In the weeks leading up to their big WrestleMania match things got heated between Charlotte and Ronda, and most expected the Baddest Woman on the Planet to pick up the win, but it was Charlotte who walked out with the gold.
It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Charlotte was booked to win the WrestleMania match because the idea is for Charlotte and Ronda to have a long term program. The belief was that Charlotte Flair had to win the first match even if Charlotte got the better of Ronda Rousey in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania.
At this point WWE has yet to confirm a rematch between the two, but it will be interesting to see how things play out on SmackDown. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
