Backstage News On Why Big Title Change Took Place On AEW Dynamite

A few weeks ago at AEW Grand Slam, Jon Moxley put the AEW International Title on the line against Rey Fenix, and Moxley called an audible after suffering an injury which resulted in an unplanned title win for Fenix.

Fightful Select reports that there were tentative plans to get the title belt back on Jon Moxley during the October 10 episode of AEW Dynamite this week. However, Moxley was not cleared, so Orange Cassidy ended up replacing him.

It’s being said that Orange Cassidy was not considered for the title win days or weeks prior to the show, but the belief is that whoever ended up facing Rey Fenix this week likely would have won the belt.

Sources close to Rey Fenix claim that he is dealing with visa issues that will keep him off TV. It’s not clear how long he’ll be off TV, but the decision was made to take the AEW International Championship off of him since he wasn’t originally supposed to win the title.
