Shane McMahon got fans talking when he returned during the 30 man Royal Rumble, but it seems that he is already gone as it was recently reported that Shane has been quietly let go.
PWInsider reports that as of yesterday there were creative plans for Shane McMahon to work as a heel and appear regularly on Monday Night Raw heading into WrestleMania.
Shane McMahon had reportedly been pushing to work with Austin Theory at WrestleMania 38 with the idea being that they could play off of Theory’s involvement with his dad Vince McMahon. However, those plans were not 100% confirmed.
It’s being said that there were other forces pushing for Seth Rollins vs. Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 38. There were plans to set up a Rollins vs. Shane McMahon feud in the men’s Royal Rumble match, but those plans were changed and Seth did not compete in the match.
Shane McMahon was indeed one of the producers involved with the men’s Royal Rumble match and he was said to be frustrated on the day of the show, and some believe he was frustrated because Vince McMahon kept shutting his ideas down.
The talk going around is that Shane McMahon was “wasn’t being allowed to do what he wanted” and that he was “greatly preoccupied” with his own role in the match. The feeling is that Shane McMahon is taking the brunt of the heat for the poor reception to the men’s Royal Rumble match, but that when all that blows over he will eventually return to WWE at some point down the line.
