WWE has gone through a major shake up over the last few weeks as Vince McMahon stepped down as Chairman and CEO after it was revealed that the WWE Board of Directors is investigating a $3 million dollar settlement and non-disclosure agreements linked to McMahon and John Laurinaitis. After Vince stepped down it was announced that Stephanie McMahon had stepped up to become interim Chairwoman and CEO of WWE.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the decision to put Stephanie McMahon in power was made by a special committee made up of the eight members of the WWE Board of Directors who are not Nick Khan, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon or Vince McMahon.
It was Vince McMahon’s decision to step down, but it was the board’s decision, not Vince’s, to put Stephanie in as interim Chairwoman and CEO.
It was also noted that in regards to people burying Stephanie after she announced her leave of absence, that came from others in the company, not people on the special committee. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
