John Cena had a consistent presence on WWE programming for years, and he was the face of the company, but times have changed and nowadays Cena is focused on other things, such as his acting career.
It’s been a while since fans have seen the former WWE Champion inside the ring as the last time he competed was when he faced Bray Wyatt in the first ever Firefly Funhouse match at WrestleMania 36 last year.
Now the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that there are ongoing talks for John Cena to appear on the first WWE show with fans back in attendance.
Earlier this week WWE confirmed that a 25 city tour is set to be announced soon, and that fans will be returning for the following three shows in July:
– Friday, July 16: SmackDown – Toyota Center in Houston
– Sunday, July 18: Money In The Bank – Dickies Arena in Fort Worth
– Monday, July 19: Raw – American Airlines Center in Dallas
It’s not clear if Cena would just be returning for an appearance, or a match, but if he is returning for the first show with fans then the July 16th episode of SmackDown seems like his likely destination.
Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
