CM Punk hasn’t appeared on AEW programming since the All Out pay-per-view in September of 2022, but it looks like he’s getting ready to return. It’s been rumored that AEW will be launching a third show set to air on Saturdays which is expected to feature CM Punk.
Andrew Zarian recently discussed the CM Punk situation on Wrestling Observer Live and he noted that Warner Bros. has been told that the former AEW World Champion is returning.
“I know for a fact that Warner has been told he’s coming back. They are very much aware of the situation. He had recently said he is willing to return to AEW and he wants to make it work.”
While talking about the new show potentially being used to move forward with plans for a potential brand split Zarian added, “The plans have been put in place to possibly have a tentative Saturday show to be the ‘soft’ brand split. When I used that term yesterday on Mat Men, I was told that it’s less soft than I’m putting out there. I guess there will be people that are predominantly on the other show, on the Saturday show.”
Zarian also mentioned that CM Punk is expected to feud with Chris Jericho when he makes his return to AEW programming. There’s currently no exact date announced for Punk’s return, but it’s rumored that he could be back as soon as June. Stay tuned for updates.
