Backstage News On What People In WWE Are Saying About Tony Khan Taking Shots At The Company

This week AEW Dynamite went head to head with NXT and it was reported ahead of time that Shawn Michaels & Triple H were looking to send a message with Tuesday’s episode of NXT. The report caught the attention of Tony Khan who stated that he had a message for Michaels & Triple H then he proceeded to post a photo of a door with the words “bald a****le” spray painted on it.

NXT came out ahead in the ratings during the head to head showdown, and Tony Khan reacted to the news when he posted the following tweet claiming that it was the first time The Undertaker and John Cena had appeared on a WWE show with less than one million viewers:

“This week, 2 active decades-long ratings streaks from 2 great legends were ended. With all due respect, until this week’s head-to-head AEW on TBS vs. WWE on USA, neither John Cena nor Undertaker had even been on a WWE show with under one million total viewers and under 400,000 in the demo.”

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that they were contacted by people in WWE who noted that Tony Khan still discussing the subject was seen as a declaration of war. It was also noted that the declaration really dates back to January of 2019.

It’s being said that the timing of Tony Khan’s tweet was strategic as he announced Jay White vs. Penta for next week shortly after posting the tweet about The Undertaker and John Cena with the idea being that it would lead to more engagement for the announcement.
