A few weeks ago it was reported that Vince McMahon had paid $3 million dollars to a former WWE employee who he allegedly had an affair with. Today the Wall Street Journal reported more information on the Vince McMahon allegations as it was revealed that Vince paid $12 million dollars to four different women over the course of 16 years in order to prevent them from speaking out.
Fightful Select is reporting that after the Wall Street Journal article was released they were contacted by multiple people from the WWE staff. One person noted that Vince McMahon’s reactions to the allegations range from “no selling the whole thing,” to “being defiant.” They also said that after Vince McMahon’s “pointless” appearance on the June 17th episode of SmackDown he returned to the Gorilla Position and said “F**k em!” It was noted that the profanity was seemingly a reaction to the allegations.
In recent weeks Vince McMahon has made three appearances on Raw and SmackDown and he also made a rare public appearance at UFC 276 last weekend in Las Vegas. It’s not clear if he’ll be appearing on SmackDown tonight.
One former talent reportedly contacted Fightful when the initial Wall Street Journal story was released and said that, “at least one major story” would be coming in the following weeks. This morning they confirmed to Fightful that it was tied to the $7.5 million dollar settlement mentioned in the WSJ story that was released today.
Vince McMahon’s behavior was said to have been heavily rumored among the creative team. One former writer noted that Vince McMahon’s relationships were a half-joking excuse in regards to why he would be late for meetings prior to TV.
