Vince McMahon is no longer part of WWE and it seems that WWE has been trying to cut all ties with McMahon due to the lawsuit that was filed by a former employee. However, CM Punk referenced Vince McMahon on Monday Night Raw when Drew McIntyre referred to himself as The Chosen One and Punk asked McIntyre who chose him.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Punk, McIntyre and Seth Rollins were given a lot of freedom with their segment on Monday. Meltzer also pointed out that Vince McMahon’s name is not allowed to be mentioned on WWE programming.
“It was not scripted word for word, which most things on that show are. They let the guys have free reign. There was one moment where there were a lot of people thinking this might not be a good idea. It was the Vince McMahon reference.
“One of the things is that Vince McMahon’s name is not allowed to be mentioned on the TV, but McIntyre changed focused and never mentioned the name and they got out of it.
“They went a little long but there was no negativity from it. One person told me that Levesque knew they were probably gonna go long, so the matches that didn’t have the entrances, before the show they already planned that that was gonna be the case. So it wasn’t that they came up with that to save time.”
Fans won’t have to wait too long to see CM Punk on WWE TV again soon as he confirmed this week during Raw that he will be doing commentary for the Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre match at WrestleMania 40.
