Backstage News On Vince McMahon’s Meeting With Adam Cole At SmackDown This Week

Adam Cole has been one of the top stars in NXT for some time now, but it was recently reported that the former NXT Champion’s contract expired in July, and he signed an extension that will keep him with the company through SummerSlam.

Hours before SmackDown on Friday Adam Cole was taken directly to Vince McMahon’s office for a meeting, and according to Fightful Vince McMahon considered the meeting to be a high priority. Higher ups reportedly heard the meeting went well, and that Vince McMahon took a liking to Cole.

WWE wanted to bring Cole to SmackDown last week, but the meeting was switched to this week, and Adam Cole was not around for the SmackDown tapings.

The company has told Adam Cole that he’s wanted on the main roster if he signs a new deal, and there have been pitches for him to join the Raw or SmackDown brand. Cole is expected to face Kyle O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver 36 later this month.
