They always say that in wrestling you can never say never as few wrestlers actually stay retired after they hang up the boots for good. Shawn Michaels retired from in-ring competition following WrestleMania 26, but he did eventually return to the ring for a tag team match at WWE Crown Jewel in 2018.
Kevin Owens recently appeared on Kevin Raphael’s podcast where he noted that after his match with Steve Austin at WrestleMania he figured nothing is impossible, so he asked about a match with Shawn Michaels.
The former Universal Champion reportedly had a sit down with Shawn Michaels when he went to NXT for the KO Show. Owens asked Michaels if he would consider having one last match against him so that he could say he wrestled his two favorites of all time.
Fightful Select is reporting that Shawn Michaels told KO that he would be lying to him if he said he hadn’t thought about wrestling another match, especially after seeing the match Owens had with Steve Austin earlier this year at WrestleMania. However, Shawn Michaels also said that he doesn’t think he should wrestle another match.
Shawn Michaels was reportedly paid around $3 million dollars for wrestling at Crown Jewel which he told people was the biggest payday of his career.
