The wrestling world has been talking about Sami Zayn for months now and he’s currently set to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber. Zayn made his return to Montreal last night on SmackDown during the main event segment and he got a very loud reaction from the fans before he got on the mic and hyped up the big title match.
Fightful Select reports that Michael Hayes was responsible for producing the segment. People backstage claimed that Sami Zayn looked “visibly anxious and nervous” before going out to do the promo, but they did not elaborate on what that meant.
People in the know were reportedly expecting somewhat of a different promo, but Sami Zayn let the segment breathe and accounted for the crowd reaction. Another source also claimed that people in Gorilla were confused as they expected a different promo. However, that hasn’t been confirmed by additional sources.
There was some panic on the production end as the “F**k You Roman” chants had to be edited and blacked out. Overall people who spoke on the subject were very happy with how everything ended up and one producer called the segment “special.”
