Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns have faced off many times over the years, and last weekend they competed in a last man standing match at SummerSlam. WWE promoted the match as their final confrontation, and their rivalry went out with a bang.
The match featured some big spots such as Brock Lesnar lifting up the ring with a tractor, and Roman Reigns picked up the win after The Usos interfered and Lesnar was buried under broken tables and debris.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the finish was booked that way because WWE didn’t really want anybody to lose. The idea was to use the tractor spot and the visuals to camouflage that as the interference would have likely been taken differently in something that WWE promoted as a conclusive match in a long series.
The match seemed to be generally well received, and the finish worked for the company. Now that his feud with Brock Lesnar is over Roman Reigns will go on to defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle.
